The AAV carries up to 25 Marines and can reach speeds of 8 MPH in the water, and up to 45 MPH on land. The primary mission is delivery of troops and supplies during amphibious assault operations. The AAV�s disembark directly from Navy ships fully loaded and drive ashore in the first wave of a beach assault.
